I Cant believe it is already late May. There are days I feel the time is moving so slow and then times when it refuses to slow down. I am sure there is some comfort in both.
The weather out here has been absolutely split personalities to say the least. Extreme heat, unseasonably cool, massive storms, torrential rain that floods... then repeat! It’s been one of those years so far! I guess everything goes in cycles and that includes the weather! With the horrid amounts of snow that killed off half our established plants this winter, it must be an off year! Virginia has the most insane weather I have ever experienced and that includes Alabama and tornado alley. I need much more consistency than Virginia can offer. Don’t even ask about the humidity, I am convinced we are now living in a tropical rain forest. The silver lining to that is... my plants that made it are THRIVING in it!
On all other fronts, we are still slowly pushing forward. The Georgia farm sits in waiting as of now and here, we are waiting for some respectable weather to start some showings again.
Malin is doing well in school and Ash is growing like a weed! She really enjoys her few play days out every week, so mom can get a break and get work done. We went on a couple fun field trips over the past month. Malin also did a fun project about hairstyles through the generations and she got 1st in her class for her piece! Between now and our last post, we have visited Georgia and the new farm and “neighborhood,” we are in love! I had to be pulled back kicking and screaming, I never wanted to leave. Already made great new friends and can’t wait to get back to the better things in life!
Malin had a birthday! She got lots of presents and enjoyed it very much! Thank you everyone for making it special for her! She actually shared a birthday with a classmate this year whose family went absolutely ALL out for a Harry Potter/Hogwarts party. They had robes, wands, flying keys and potions for all the kids too. It was insane cool! Malin REALLY enjoyed being a part of this, especially on her own birthday!
Mike is doing well but very busy taking over CO duties on the Ford, since they are in a transitional period with CO’s. He aquaits it to babysitting thousands of children who want nothing more than to misbehave at all costs. Some of the calls he gets are comical at best. He is looking forward to retirement in the next year or so. If this man isn’t flying... he wants none of it. He is trying to be patient and hold on amidst the chaos. He says it’s the most difficult job mentally, that he has ever had. Not much longer now!
“Welcome to my revolution. All your walls are breaking down. It's time you had a taste of losing, time the table's turned around. I see a glimpse of recognition, but it's too late ugh it's too late! And what you thought was your best decision just became your worst mistake. You broke me in to pieces, but I gave each piece a name...
One of me is wiser
One of me is stronger
One of me is a fighter
And there's a thousand faces of me
And were gonna rise up
For every time you broke me
Well you're gonna face an army, army of me.
So how does it feel to know that I beat ya? That I can defeat ya! Oh, how does it feel, cause it sure feels sweeter to me!” - Christina Aguilera
Easter was pretty low key here. Had some local farm fun and and great egg hunting! Enjoyed the animals immensely!
Still very much moving forward in “other areas.” People who know us personally, will understand that statement. I am trying to learn patiece since it is no surprise I was NOT blessed with that! The “process” is slow and some days takes all my energy to remind myself... that Rome wasn’t built in a day. Till then we wait and rest assured that the truth will reveal itself in massive ways...
“I never did give anybody hell. I just told the truth and they thought it was hell.”

We have been unbelievably busy, and not a busy that I would ever enjoy or wish on most people. Our online accounts have been stalked now for years, which has been proven in court, and has forced us to shut down almost ALL of our social media accounts. They will most likely even stalk this post, almost guaranteed! It’s amazing the lengths jealous and wicked people will go to! Which is also why I am not afraid to speak the truth! We shall meet in court wether you lie about us or not. The really disturbing issue is that these people “think” they are religious. Oh how gravely wrong they are! As the old proverbs states and one out of their own book:
“People may cover their hatred with pleasant words, but they’re deceiving you. They pretend to be kind, but don’t believe them. Their hearts are full of many evils. While their hatred may be concealed by trickery, their wrong doing will be exposed in public. If you set a trap for others, you will get caught in it yourself. If you roll a boulder down on others, it will crush you instead.”
Riding has pretty much come to screeching halt for the past few months and mostly due to weather. The weather has been hellacious out here this winter. We have merely been staying afloat of the mud.
Malin’s pony Pixie has been officially leased out to another little girl who will be showing her for the 2018 show season in Virginia. Brooke, Malin's old trainer, will remain training Pixie and her new “little.” We are looking forward to watching her journey, as she really is one special pony!
In some of our most difficult times recently, we want to thank and shout out our love to our real friends that came running to our aid when it mattered the most. There are quite a few of you and we appreciate you more than you will ever know! I am not even sure we will ever be able to repay you and may spend a lifetime trying...
The title of todays blog means a lot to us. It’s a promise that the light at the end of the tunnel is brighter than the current flames that some very evil people have forced us to live in for years. When reality is... all we ever wanted to do was “meet in the middle.” The truth will prevail and we will keep our focus on what is more important to us and keep our faith forefront amidst the chaos. We are a very strong family and nothing, absolutely nothing, can take that away from us. Our love for family, true friends and our farm is too strong a bond for any jealous and disturbed person to break.

Rio adores a beautiful sunset, on a chilly winter evening. But no matter the cold, when the sky is on fire, you stop and admire the beauty!

Winter storm fun on the farm. January 2018
This is Storm... she is a spitting image of Beamer and she traded places with our other horse Jewel.
Slideshow of Mike’s travels in the Pacific and last winter with the girls.
This is my winter song to you.The storm is coming soon,
It rolls in from the sea
My voice; a beacon in the night.
My words will be your light,
To carry you to me.
Is love alive?
They say that things just cannot grow
Beneath the winter snow,
Or so I have been told.
They say we’re buried far,
Just like a distant star
I simply cannot hold.
Is love alive?
This is my winter song.
December never felt so wrong,
'Cause you're not where you belong;
I still believe in summer days.
The seasons always change
And life will find a way.
I'll be your harvester of light
And send it out tonight
So we can start again.
Is love alive?
This is my winter song.
December never felt so wrong,
'Cause you're not where you belong;
Inside my arms.
This is my winter song to you.
The storm is coming soon
It rolls in from the sea.
My love a beacon in the night.
My words will be your light
To carry you to me.
With Zero gone, it’s been a very difficult month; he now sits on my nightstand and the time has not made it easier yet. Not only Zero, but Mike as well. Guam was good to Mike, but he only got to spend a couple days there with our friends before moving on. He has been pulling very long days in the tower and he claims that catching up with this carrier was the worst and longest flight he has ever taken in his life. He crossed EVERY time zone. We have immersed ourselves in a lot of “new” around here and we are hoping the change will bring less stress and more ease. New car, new horse trailer, crazy horse sold, new puppy... lots of new happening.
We hope everyone has a fantastic Thanksgiving and we miss you all! Gobble, gobble...
The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance.

I haven’t made a photo blog in awhile now. Very busy. This has not been a good week either. But I wanted to post something and pay homage to my best friend who tragically left us on Monday night. I will forever be in debited to him.
Enjoy the new photos and help us remember Zero and all his excitement he had for life and his family. I will add to his collage of photos as I find them and have some more time.
They will not go quietly
The dogs who shared our lives
In subtle ways they let us know
Their spirit still survives.
Old habits still make us think
we hear a barking at the door,
Or step back when we drop
a tasty morsel on the floor.
Our feet still go around the place
The food dish use to be
And sometimes coming home at night
We miss them terribly.
Although time may bring new friends
And a new food dish to fill
That one place in our heart
Belongs to them and always will.
New Photos on the Farm...
Fall is finally here, but I have to admit, it’s sad to see summer go! The lazy days of summer will surely be missed.
Malin went back to school and she really likes her new teacher! She is doing really well and off to a great start. 100% in both math, spelling and reading!
Mike and I got to go to a 3 Doors Down concert here at the oceanfront and we had a GREAT time! 3 Doors Down has ALWAYS been one of our favorite bands of all time; for both of us, which is rare! All Mike’s flying videos have been done to their music. We got great tickets and were front and center for the show! I posted my pics on IG of Brad (the lead singer) and he even “liked” them. Always cool. :)
Baby had a small hiccup and we believe managed to dislocate her elbow. We have NO IDEA how. I spent the day at CHKD Urgent care and she ended up in a fiberglass splint and a sling. Even with x-rays, they couldn’t rule anything out and sent her to an orthopedist. After a week, she ended up being just fine! The splint came off and she is back to her normal self! Kids!
We finished the build on the newly relocated round pen. Mike worked very hard and managed to pump this 60ft round pen out in less than 2 weeks. Way to go Mike! We were still having problems with neighbor kids scaring the horses while round penning and we couldn’t get the horses to focus and pay attention because they were too scared of what the neighbors were up to. Again, it became a dangerous situation we no longer felt comfortable risking. One of our horses body slammed herself through 3 sections of the fencing she was so frightened of what was going on over there. Sad situation that after all we have already been through with them, these people STILL couldn’t be decent human beings and just go inside while I round penned horses for an hour. But here we are! A second arena moved! The new round pen is stunning, built better and the footing is way better than the original! It also has its own light, so it can be used at night too.
Lots going on still! Lots of moving parts but that’s how we roll! We shut down our Etsy woodworking store with no ETA on when we will be back. We got SO slammed this year, which was a good thing, but it got too overwhelming. We had a waitlist ALL year and never slowed down! With Mike going to a new command in mid October we HAD to force a slow down. So many things here on the farm that needed routine maintenance that never managed to get finished with all the hobby shop work. Here’s hoping we can take a sizable chunk of that farm work out before work starts kicking Mike’s butt again!
We would like to thank ALL our clients this year, what a year! One for the books! Not one person cared about being on a waiting list; they all said Mike’s work and crafmanship was worth any wait! I call that a success! Thank you!

More guests out to the farm over the last month of real summer!
Diesel hurt himself AGAIN! We are convinced he is in to self harm. *insert eye roll* He has already seen the vet a handful of times since his initial repair and is on the mend but he exposed the bone... so he is a waiting game again. Silly horses!
Mike, Malin and I took to the waters this past week on our kayaks. Man did we have fun at Stumpy lake! The pictures don't even do it justice! Peaceful is an understatement! Malin had a blast till she and dad tried a new boat launch down Blackwater river and poor Malin was attacked by Bald Face Hornets. They are very aggressive large hornets that sting repeatedly! She has been to the doctor and besides large doses of Benadryl, she is on the mend. Man will she have a story to tell!
We hope you all have had a fantastic summer and we will see you on the flip side of school! 🍎

VERY busy month! So busy I am sitting in the bath with a beer! 🙌 🍻
We have been having tons of friends out to the farm over the past couple weeks! Some to just ride, some to lesson and some to just escape life and enjoy the ponies. It's been so amazing! Somedays we get so wrapped up in this well oiled machine of our life and caring for the farm, that we forget to relax and share our beautiful paradise with others. There are days when just finding the time is difficult! But it's so worth it and the time shared will always be cherished!
In the blink of an eye... Ashlyn turned 2 in late July! Although we did not have a party for her, she was showered with gifts from friends and family. Although some days our patience is worn through, she is the sweetest and most happy soul you will ever meet. It's hard to believe she is 2! She is speaking and loves to say "Your Welcome!" Other fun words are: Maui- sissy come back!- pony- horsey- pig pig- binkis!- milk- gummies (her vitamins)- Rio- OK!- ice cream- poopy!
Mikes parents came out to visit this past month and they had some great times with the kids! Granted, I think they were TOTALLY prepared to give them back; they were officially exhausted! We wore them out! We waited for grandma to go with Malin to get her ears pierced and although Malin had a VERY concerned look during the procedure, she sucked it up and is SO happy she did! Grandma did a fantastic job prepping her and getting her in to the routine of washing and turning her earrings 3 times a day. It's still all Malin talks about. They all hit the beach, the movies, a ninja warrior course and a few dinners out. Great visit in the books! But Oklahoma is calling them back...
Mike is FULL throttle on the Etsy storefront and has been cracking out trunks, saddle stands and totes like no ones business! I have even been busy with my brush sets and even individual hair brushes!
Mike will take a trip out of the country this month for the Navy! The first real trip he has done since having Ashlyn! He asked permission to fly a jet out and I pretty much told him to get lost. I got this! You do you!
We hope you all are well and having a great summer! ☀️
